Getting to know Sidney Sebastian

A bit about me …. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 5 years experience focusing on a wide variety of mental health needs. My experience also includes working with many demographics from adolescents on juvenile probation, seniors and geriatrics, the homeless population, people struggling with substance use to general mental health needs. In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy in order to help clients improve their thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I often work with clients to address communication styles and active listening, family dynamics, and changing unhealthy/negative thought patterns. My counseling style is relaxed and client focused. Many of my clients have said that initiating therapy can be scary but I make the process easy and comfortable. My education and work experience … Since graduating from the University of Louisville in 2018, I have been working in various fields of social work, dedicated to helping people from all walks of life through CBT, grief therapy, advocacy, trauma informed care and motivational interviewing. I have vast experience working with substance use, medication assisted treatment, mental health, co-occurring disorders, medical social work, and community resource coordination. I am licensed in Kentucky and have a specialization in substance use disorders. For the past 4 years, I was a behavioral health supervisor and DUI Program Administrator at 2nd ChanceCenter for Addiction Treatment in Lexington, KY. My current role as a therapist on TotalLife.com enables me to focus on my passion to support older adults and that’s important to me because older adults have historically had less access to the mental health services they deserve. Providing telehealth therapy in the home of older adults gives them the opportunity to speak with a licensed therapist about their mental health needs and gain support through a therapeutic relationship.
