Skylar earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University and is committed to providing thoughtful, high-quality care. What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect me to be genuine, engaged, and invested in understanding your experience. I value creating a space where you feel safe being honest — even about the parts that feel messy or difficult. While I take a person-centered approach and want you to guide what feels most important, I also believe therapy should have direction. Together, we will identify patterns that may be contributing to stress or conflict and work toward practical shifts that support your goals. For couples, I focus on helping both partners feel heard while building healthier communication and problem-solving patterns.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our early sessions, we will clarify what’s bringing you to therapy, explore relevant background and relationship dynamics, and identify what progress would look like for you. As therapy continues, I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, and IFS to help you: Recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns Strengthen emotional regulation Improve communication and boundary-setting Build self-confidence and self-compassion Develop healthier relational patterns I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum, and we reassess as progress is made. I work with adults ages 18–64 and also provide couples therapy.
