Dr. Solimar Santiago-Warner, LCSW, DSW

Psychotherapist
NY
My name is Solimar Santiago-Warner, and I specialize in maternal mental health with a focus on loss, grief, and trauma. I support women and birthing people in healing from anxiety, depression, and trauma related to pregnancy and motherhood/parenthood. I often use the word matrescence (pronounced muh-tre-sense, rhymes with adolescence) because it defines the stage of development that women go through when they become pregnant and transition to motherhood and all that comes with it. Like adolescents, pregnant mothers (people) experience rapid hormonal shifts and physical, psychological, and emotional changes that impact their identity. Just as in adolescence, when a woman (person) is going through matrescence, she is trying to make sense of and integrate motherhood into her identity as a whole. I hold a Doctor of Clinical Social Work from New York University and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Boston College. I am trained in various modalities, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, and Psychodynamic therapies, which provide relief and healing and are proven effective within the perinatal population. My clients describe me as interactive, resourceful, empathetic, comforting, insightful, and open to trying new approaches. When you meet with me, I hope you will feel heard, grounded, supported, and empowered wherever you are in your journey. All of these experiences change us. I want you to look at yourself with curiosity and discovery and treat yourself as you would someone you love. I look forward to connecting with you.
