I typically work with clients who are struggling with the following concerns: - Anxiety and Mood Disorders - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - Self-Harming Behaviors - Self-Criticism, Self-doubt, and Shame - Navigating family conflicts/dysfunctional familial relationships - Unhealthy relationship patterns - Bicultural Identity Conflicts - Coping with discrimination/harassment/bullying/bias I work with folks who come to me seeking support on a range of concerns but those who seem most drawn to work with me appear to have a desire to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, learn how to regulate and express their emotions, and change patterns that are causing distress. Clients who thrive when working with me are also folx who are willing to reflect and engage in homework and reflection exercises in-between appointments. Since therapy is a collaborative process, it is the most effective when both therapist and client are actively engaged.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The foundation of my approach is rooted in social justice and liberation frameworks. This means an acknowledgement, honoring, and connecting of how our individual and collective communities’ histories, the histories of our ancestors, and cultural backgrounds and identities influence our current lived experiences. My approach to therapy is integrated and holistic— mainly informed through psychodynamic (insight-oriented), somatic (body-focused), and interpersonal process interventions. At times, I might use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or Exposure and Response Prevention therapy approach if it is a better for my client. In sessions, we might focus on exploring thinking or behavioral patterns that are contributing to your current concerns (e.g. childhood experiences or family relationships, trauma, defenses, previous similar patterns), your relational patterns with others and your relationship with yourself, somatic movement/exercises, or understanding your emotions better. It is really hard to be in therapy, to be vulnerable, and to explore painful experiences. I feel privileged to be entrusted with this work, and I want all my clients to feel like they have a safe space to explore painful thoughts, emotions and experiences. I also provide reflection exercises/questions, including therapy exercises in-between appointments.
