Getting to know Sonja Norman
Hello! Does it seem overwhelming and maybe a little bit odd to be searching for a therapist? I get it! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sonja (rhymes with "lasagna"). I earned my Master's in Mental Health Social Work from Florida State University. I enjoyed working with children and their families for 15 years, then transitioned to the medical field, where I was blessed to continue my growth within a variety of settings. My husband and I have one spoiled dog, Bo, a boxer-hound mix, who brings lots of laughs to our home.
My specialties include working with a variety of age ranges, from teens to senior adults. I help people dealing with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression find ways to cope. Those struggling with adoption issues may need extra support as they sort through their feelings. Caregivers feeling overwhelmed with life can find a peaceful place to land during our sessions. I particularly enjoy providing Christian-based counseling, as that is an important part of who I am. I believe that laughing about life with my patients helps us explore together what may be on their hearts and minds.
NOTE: I hope to offer in-person sessions soon, but for now, I will only be seeing patients via telehealth.
What should a new client know about working with you?
During our first session, I will gather some background information to help me get to know more about you. We will also discuss your goals, to ensure that we are working toward the same thing. I may give you "assignments" at the end of a session which may be written, a task to do, a conversation to have, something to think about, or some other form. During the next session, I will ask for feedback on your "homework" and how things have gone since our last session.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
