Getting to know Sonya Landry
My name is Sonya Landry. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe place in order to help others successfully cope with whatever challenges that may come their way. Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a counselor for 10 years in the juvenile and adult prisons. In addition, I have worked 10 years in a private practice with a psychiatrist and about 5 years in a group practice. I have also worked with foster care kids and students in an alternative school. My clients include preteens, teenagers, adults and couples. I have extensive training in ADHD, anger management, grief recovery, depression, anxiety, trauma, critical stress debriefing, family and relationship problems. I believe in partnership with clients, listening, and problem solving with a creative, confident and curious mind. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which encourages one to identify, challenge and replace distorted beliefs in order to live a more fulfilling life. I am also trained in a variety of approaches to help meet the needs of the individual. I am married and a mother. I enjoy worshipping God, spending time with family, shopping, traveling, exercising and watching movies. I am looking forward to continuing to help others overcome the things they once thought they could not.
