Sophia Worth, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Sophia! I was a medical social worker for a psychiatric hospital for over 4 years, running group therapy and completing biopsychosocial assessments. I also provided supportive counseling for clients with end-stage renal disease for over 5 years. I received my clinical license in 2020, right after COVID-19 hit. At that time, I realized the mental toll the pandemic had taken on many of my patients, family members, and friends. This inspired me to join a group practice and later transition into private practice. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas, San Antonio, which laid the foundation for my clinical work and therapeutic approach. My approach My therapeutic approach is based on getting to know each client’s history, values, what brings them into therapy, and their therapeutic goals. My top modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and post-traumatic growth. I specialize in anxiety, depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder I and II, borderline personality disorder, chemical dependency, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. My focus I work with teenagers ages 13 and older, young adults, and adults. I also support those struggling with fertility, postpartum anxiety, and postpartum depression. My communication style I believe active listening and empathy are of utmost importance. Validating my clients is key to fostering change. Building a strong therapeutic relationship based on rapport, understanding, and trust is essential for transformation to happen. My journey to therapy Since I was a freshman in college, I have always known I wanted to become a psychotherapist. I changed my major from communications to psychology, and the rest is history.
