“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” Edith Wharton’s words guide how I approach this work – sometimes I’m the light helping you see clearly, sometimes I’m reflecting your own wisdom back to you. Either way, we’re creating illumination together. I spent four years teaching, always drawn to the social-emotional learning aspects more than lesson plans. After my students were directly impacted by a shooting at a neighboring school during my 2 years teaching in Nashville, everything crystallized. Helping kids work through their grief and fear, I realized my strengths weren’t in teaching math but rather I wanted to be present for young people navigating life’s hardest moments. So I took a leap of faith, left teaching, and started my MSW with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families, plus a certificate in trauma-informed practice. I’m early in this journey, which means I bring fresh energy and genuine curiosity to every session. I don’t have any assumptions about how therapy “should” go. I just want to sit with you and help you find a better way around the things that are not working for you in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My biggest frustration is the belief that something has to be “wrong” for you to seek therapy. Everyone can benefit from having space, tools, and guidance to learn about themselves. Therapy isn’t just for crises. It’s also for growth, understanding, and living a better life. I believe in living a life of exposure and pushing myself to try new things, be uncomfortable, and grow. Born in the UK, I’ve traveled to 13 countries so far with Japan, Switzerland, and Iceland being next on my list. When I’m not in sessions, you’ll find me at pilates, needlepointing, walking my dog Dolly, or swimming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As someone new to this field, I’m building my approach with each client. What I know for certain is that safety comes first – I want you to feel safe sharing whatever you’re struggling with, knowing there’s zero judgment here.
