Sophie Yang, APCC

Psychotherapist
1031 Myra Ave, Los Angeles, CA
Taking that first step toward therapy can be terrifying. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are. I strive to provide a warm, open, and validating environment where you can talk honestly about your thoughts, fears, feelings, and life experiences. If I had to describe my approach as a therapist, I would say it's honest, kind, and authentic. Having experienced my own mental health challenges, I understand how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help. While everyone's experience is different, I know how difficult it can be to sit with painful emotions and take that first step. You don't have to have everything figured out before we begin. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and gently challenge you when it feels helpful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy should feel like a space that's truly yours. Whether you need a place to process, learn new skills, vent, cry, laugh, or simply sit in silence, we'll use our time in whatever way feels most helpful to you. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel understood, supported, and a little less alone as you navigate life's challenges. I primarily use Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. You don't have to become a different person to create meaningful change. Together, we'll work to better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, build practical coping skills, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and learn to accept the parts of yourself you've been fighting instead of feeling like you have to change who you are. I have experience working with neurodivergent individuals and specialize in working with borderline personality disorder and anxiety. I also support clients experiencing depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship challenges, emotional dysregulation, and low self-esteem. I primarily work with teens and young adults.
