Sou Min Lee, MCoun

Psychotherapist
NY
I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating self-criticism, anxiety, stress, perfectionism, burnout, relationship challenges, and the effects of growing up without consistent emotional support. My approach balances holding space for whatever you’re experiencing with collaborating on practical steps toward your goals. I believe emotions themselves are not the problem; often, it is the way we learn to judge, avoid, or fear them that can keep us stuck. By learning to make space for difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them, we can create greater flexibility, self-understanding, and meaningful change. Getting the right support can make a meaningful difference, and you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. I would be glad to meet you where you are and work alongside you from there.

Getting to know Sou Min Lee

I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating self-criticism, anxiety, stress, perfectionism, burnout, relationship challenges, and the effects of growing up without consistent emotional support. My approach balances holding space for whatever you’re experiencing with collaborating on practical steps toward your goals. I believe emotions themselves are not the problem; often, it is the way we learn to judge, avoid, or fear them that can keep us stuck. By learning to make space for difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them, we can create greater flexibility, self-understanding, and meaningful change. What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where you feel both supported and empowered. My goal is not to tell you who you should be or how you should live, but to help you better understand yourself, identify what matters to you, and develop the confidence and tools to move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your current experiences, relationships, and patterns, as well as the goals you hope to work toward. As we continue, we’ll work together to better understand your emotions and the ways you respond to them, while developing tools that support greater flexibility, self-compassion, and confidence. I tailor the pace and focus of therapy to each client rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
