Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that are hard to change, or unsure how to move forward. If you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, or relationship stress, you don't have to figure it out alone. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and trauma-informed. Stacey integrates EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients process difficult experiences, improve emotional regulation, and build healthier coping patterns. I believe therapy should be a space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported while working toward meaningful change. I tend to be a good fit for individuals who are ready to better understand themselves and are open to learning practical tools - not just talking, but actively working toward change. Appointments are available in person in Waterloo, Iowa and through secure telehealth sessions across the state of Iowa.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable or uncertain, especially if this is your first time talking with a therapist. One of my priorities is creating a space where clients feel safe, respected, and able to talk openly about what they are experiencing without feeling judged. When we work together, therapy is a collaborative process. I believe that clients are the experts on their own lives, and my role is to help guide the conversation, provide insight, and offer practical tools that can make everyday challenges feel more manageable. We move at a pace that feels comfortable while working toward meaningful goals. Many of the individuals I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that are difficult to change, or unsure how to move forward. I frequently work with people experiencing anxiety, trauma-related stress, emotional overwhelm, and attention-related challenges such as ADHD. Together we focus on understanding what is contributing to those experiences and building strategies that support healthier ways of coping. My approach integrates trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and skills from Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I focus on helping clients better understand their thoughts and emotions while developing practical tools that support long-term growth. Most importantly, therapy with me is not about being "fixed." It is about gaining clarity, building resilience, and creating meaningful changes that improve how you experience your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We will talk about the concerns or challenges you are experiencing, your goals for therapy, and any relevant background that may help guide the work we do together. This session also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. Many clients choose to meet weekly at first so we can build momentum and start seeing meaningful progress early on. After the initial session, we typically begin identifying patterns that may be contributing to stress, emotional distress, or relationship challenges. Together we work to develop goals and explore strategies that can help you better manage what you are experiencing. My approach to therapy is collaborative and practical. integrate trauma-informed therapy, EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and skills from Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). The goal is not only to understand what is happening but also to develop tools that help improve emotional regulation, coping skills, and overall well-being. The pace and focus of therapy are always tailored to the individual. Some clients prefer to work on immediate challenges and coping strategies, while others want to spend more time processing past experiences that continue to impact their lives. Over time, many clients begin to notice increased insight, improved coping skills, and greater confidence in navigating difficult situations. Therapy is a process, and my role is to support and guide you as you work toward meaningful and lasting change.
