Stacey Jane Nichols, LCSW

Psychotherapist
UT
I love being a counselor and have been in private practice for the last 12 years or so. I have a great deal of experience and training working with all addiction issues, including eating disorders. I also treat the more common struggles of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. My approach I view each client as more than a "client." They are people, like me, who want to feel valuable and lovable and to live life in a fulfilling and balanced way. In that way, we are all quite similar, and there is connection and compassion in that. My focus I feel like you are already halfway there by reaching out and making the step to get therapy. Healthy people get therapy; you don't have to be super "unwell" or "crazy" to get therapy. I think recognizing you need help in an area of your life (or many) is a sign of help and self-care. My communication style I strive to create an equal and connection-based relationship with my clients. I use humor and candor to help my clients progress and heal. I am not here to shame you, and I will not judge you. I am here to be a cheerleader for you, a support to you, and an aid in your life. I am already proud of you for starting down this path. My journey to mental healthcare I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, which helps me understand the mind. From my social work side, I bring in more social connections and emotional components to counseling. I feel this understanding between both sciences allows me to help people change in a more well-rounded way. My first session with you You may be nervous, but within a few minutes of meeting me, that will likely dissipate. The number one comment people say at the end of their first session is that it wasn't like they thought it would be (talking about so many personal things to a complete stranger over video, what!?) They also usually feel more hope, resolve, joy, or comfort.
