Psychotherapist
MI
Hi there, I'm Stacey! Hello, I'm Stacey Krause, LMSW, and I have been in practice for 26 years. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Wayne State University. First and foremost, it is important to me that my clients feel safe, respected, and heard. The journey is yours; I'm here as a guide. My main areas of practice are grief, anxiety, and trauma. I also have experience with mood disorders, cancer, women's issues, and self-injury. My approach I am eclectic in my approach, as I find value in many therapies. I most often use person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, Imago, mindfulness, and problem-solving techniques. My focus I work with individuals and couples, ages 14 and up. I treat anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, trauma, self-harm, self-esteem, cancer, grief, PTSD, couples/marriage issues, gender dysphoria, and life transitions such as gender transitioning, becoming a new parent, retiring, entering college, separating from the military, and parole. My communication style I am a very calm person with a great deal of patience. I have a sense of humor, which I use to my advantage when appropriate. I'm passionate about my career and the people I work with. I engage in dialogue with my clients, listen without interrupting, and offer thoughtful feedback. My journey to mental healthcare I first saw a therapist when my parents divorced when I was about 10, and it helped me to talk about things. At 13, I participated in a Peer Education Program (PEP) at school, where I helped a suicidal peer get the help she needed. From that moment, I knew I wanted to help people. My parents were helpers too-one was a police officer, and the other a 911 dispatcher-but I chose social work because it felt safer, less stressful, and people actually wanted to see and talk to me, unlike my parents… (insert my sense of humor). Twenty-six years and counting, and I still absolutely love what I do.
