Stacey Peyer, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Stacey Peyer, and I have been a licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1989. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles. I primarily work with adults and am also a Certified Pet Loss Specialist. My approach I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, which means I believe the past informs the present. People may repeat unhealthy patterns and behaviors learned early in life to survive but that no longer serve them. I can help you uncover and understand these patterns and assist you in identifying healthier choices. Perhaps events or interactions with family or others have triggered feelings or challenges you thought you had resolved. Maybe you want to learn more effective ways to communicate with loved ones. I am passionate about helping adults of all ages develop their true selves, nurture self-awareness, and empower them to live their most fulfilling lives. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients change their feelings by changing their thoughts and am comfortable working in the here and now, using our therapeutic relationship as the vehicle for change. My focus I work with adults dealing with relationship issues, life transitions, depression, anxiety, infertility, LGBTQ concerns, and pet loss—including anticipatory grief and end-of-life decisions. I have extensive experience supporting social work students and those studying related fields in their career journeys. My communication style I see psychotherapy as a collaborative experience; we work as a team. I will support you in discussing the things that trouble you and encourage you to talk about what you find difficult. I share insights as gently as possible and sometimes point out patterns that may not be obvious to you. I encourage you to tell me if I am missing the mark so we can model open and direct communication in our therapeutic relationship.
