Starlene Delp, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
Hi there, I'm Starlene! My name is Starlene, but I prefer Star. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work mostly with adults, focusing on depression, anxiety, life transitions, and stress management. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy alongside coping skills drawn from DBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR to help my clients discover what works best for their needs. My approach I explain my approach like this: the client is always in control, similar to being the driver of a car, and I, as the therapist, act as the GPS to help navigate present life barriers. Clients remain in control of their treatment as I take a Person-Centered Collaborative approach built from multiple modalities. I continue building my toolbox of skills to offer a variety of options. My focus I have found that my approach best fits young adults and older individuals who may be experiencing symptoms related to changes that have occurred for many reasons but have resulted in dysfunction in daily life. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress, and substance abuse. I meet my clients where they are and help them start building a strong foundation, and we continue to grow from there. My communication style My communication style is open, compassionate, client-focused, trauma-informed, and without judgment-creating a space for therapeutic rapport to blossom. My journey to mental healthcare I hold a Master's in Professional Clinical Counseling from Liberty University and have over twenty years of experience working directly with people in their homes and community support programs. My background is vast, starting my career as a direct care worker, then as a behavioral specialist, and in long-term care mental health treatment programs, with many roles in between. I value each experience and all the people I have encountered on my journey, molding me into the therapist I am today.
