Starr Rochelle, LSW

Psychotherapist
NJ
*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* I support individuals as they navigate experiences such as depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and grief. In our work together, the focus is always on you-your story, your strengths, and the meaning you make of what you’ve been through. People come to therapy at many different stages of life, and I honor each person’s unique perspective, knowing there’s no “right” way to struggle or to heal. I strive to create a space where every part of you is welcome. You don’t need to edit, minimize, or protect me from your experiences-this is a place where your whole story can exist safely. I don’t see therapy as fixing something that’s broken; instead, I view it as a process of reconnecting with yourself, your values, and your inherent worth. Growth can sometimes feel uncomfortable, and we’ll move at a pace that feels respectful and supportive, trusting that even moments of unease can hold important insight. In sessions, I bring a grounded, calm, and deeply empathetic presence, offering curiosity and compassion as you explore what you’ve been carrying inside. My hope is that our work helps you feel understood and supported, and that together we can create meaning from your experiences in a way that feels empowering and affirming. Talking openly about what you’ve held within can be a meaningful step toward changing how it lives in you and how you relate to yourself moving forward. Outside of the therapy space, I value connection and warmth in my own life-spending time with my family and my two mischievous black cats, Oliver and Nori, who occasionally make surprise appearances during sessions and often help set a tone of ease and authenticity before we even begin.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If you’re on the fence, I'd say trust the timing. Sometimes life nudges us toward support right when we need it (even during the times we think we don't). My style is calm, honest, and grounded, showing up with both heart and real talk. If you’re ready, I’m here to walk with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you sit with me, you’ll experience a therapist who is calm, intuitive, and deeply invested in understanding your story. I’m here to help you make sense of your emotions, unlearn old survival patterns, and practice new ways of relating to yourself and others. I came to this work out of a belief in the power of connection, and I hope our sessions feel like a place where you’re finally met with compassion and clarity.
