Stella Campbell, LCSW

Psychotherapist
8000 Towers Crescent Dr, Vienna, VA
I am a Qualified Mental Health Professional and LCSW-Supervisee specializing in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexuality and gender identity, and life transitions. Over the past five years, I’ve worked primarily with queer and BIPOC/AAPI young adults, but am here to support anyone who is ready to begin their healing journey. The patients I’ve had the privilege of working with came to therapy with a shared hope: to feel more in control, find greater happiness, and to grow into stronger, more resilient versions of themselves. Together, we worked through life transitions, relationship challenges, and the anxiety or depression that was getting in the way of the life they wanted to live. Watching patients reach their goals and move forward confidently, no longer needing therapy because they are truly thriving, is the greatest reward of this work. As a social worker, my practice is rooted in six core principles: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. I believe that compassionate care, anti-racism, and equity are not just ideals but responsibilities – to our field, to society, and most importantly, to you. When we work together, you will never feel alone in your journey. I am fully present and deeply committed to your growth and well-being every step of the way.

What should a new client know about working with you?

"DISCLAIMER: We are not able to accept Medicare or Medicaid plans at this time." Long before I became a therapist, I was the friend people turned to, the one who listened, supported, and helped others find their footing during hard times. This instinct to help shaped everything that followed. The turning point came when I supported a loved one through a serious mental health crisis. Witnessing firsthand how compassionate, skilled care helped her not just survive but begin to heal, I knew with certainty that becoming a therapist was my calling. That experience deepened my conviction that exceptional mental health care must meet each person exactly where they are. It reinforced my belief that with the right support, people struggling with even the most difficult challenges can do more than get through – they can truly thrive. That commitment is at the heart of everything I bring to my work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Because every person is unique, I believe every treatment plan should be too. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet you exactly where you are and address what you need most. I regularly incorporate elements of art therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my work. One aspect of care I am especially passionate about is helping you understand the neurobiological processes that shape how we experience mental health. When you understand what’s happening in your body and mind, you gain a greater sense of control over your emotions. Patients consistently report that this deeper awareness translates into meaningful, lasting progress toward their goals. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, accepting, and validating space where each appointment is shaped to fit your needs while keeping sight of the larger goals we have set together. I meet you where you are in your journey, offering a secure and supportive environment where you can feel confident sharing your struggles and celebrating your growth.
