Stephanie Amundson, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
My ideal client is someone who is willing to come to sessions and put in the hard work that therapy requires. My ideal client's issues and needs may stem from something personal or even an external circumstance outside of their lives. What matters most is having courage and how my clients decide to deal with those issues and needs because life can throw curveballs. When clients face these curveballs, it's important to have goals, and I believe it's essential to acknowledge those issues, needs, and goals in a holistic way-by treating the body, mind, and spirit. I work through a person-centered lens and often integrate other types of therapy that I am skilled in, such as CBT, DBT, trauma-focused, and narrative therapy, to help clients with their specific needs and goals. I often work with individuals, teens and adolescents, and families, and I hope to bring a sense of compassion, kindness, trust, and empathy when working with these clients. I have a passion for helping others and consider myself a lifelong learner. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University and my Bachelor's degree from Northeastern Illinois University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a medic working on an ambulance in Chicago for six dedicated years. My professional experience as a counselor has taken me into many different settings where I have worked with a diverse range of clients. I have provided psychotherapy services in various therapeutic environments, including residential treatment facilities, inpatient settings, and outpatient clinics.
