Getting to know Stephanie Haugen

Do you often feel tense, nervous, or unable to relax? Do you feel numb or constantly exhausted? Do you feel disconnected from your partner? Have you been struggling with a recent life transition? If so, Stephanie would like to support you on this journey. She believes every individual's experience is unique and that each person is their own life expert. Stephanie views the whole person, not simply the presenting problems, and strives to be exceptionally sensitive to her clients' most prominent identities. She specializes in working with clients of all ages struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal relationships. Stephanie’s approach is rooted in mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and cultural humility. She will help you develop coping skills that can be useful both now and in the future. Together, you will work to identify negative thoughts, practice new skills, problem-solve, and set goals so that you can fully live in the present moment. Counseling has traditionally been based on Western assumptions that have minimized multicultural challenges. Stephanie believes in understanding mental health and providing counseling services in ways that validate people’s intersecting identities, fostering personal growth, optimizing quality of life, and healing maladaptive thoughts, feeling states, and behaviors. Stephanie earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University and holds a Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. *** After booking, our office may reach out by phone or email to help expedite the intake process.
