“I'm definitely going back! Stephanie was great, she knew exactly when to delve deeper on something that I didn't even realize I was holding back and when to say "let's look at this again later." She was also a great listener and made sure I felt comfortable expressing myself and even made sure I was comfortable in the space I was in and asked me questions as to why which helped me understand a few more things about my behavior recently. Highly recommend!”

Getting to know Stephanie Maquieira

Therapy isn't about becoming someone new, it's about coming home to the person you've always been. No matter how long you’ve struggled with anxiety, low self-worth, relationship challenges or painful life experiences, I don’t believe you are “broken.” Many of the ways we cope were developed to help us survive at one point in our lives. Together, we'll work to understand the patterns that have kept you in survival mode, nurture the self that learned to survive, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have always deserved to be seen, heard, and cared for. My approach to therapy is holistic, drawing from multiple evidence-based practices. I place great emphasis on the mind-body connection and weave somatic techniques into my practice, such as breathwork and guided meditations. The idea is to calm the nervous system and create a safe environment for you to reconnect with your mind, body, and spirit. Whether you're navigating a break-up, struggling with anxiety, processing trauma or rediscovering your voice, I offer a safe space where you can exhale and explore your concerns with compassion, not judgment. Schedule a telehealth session today! I'd be honored to support you on your path toward healing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, curious, and honest. I won't simply sit back and nod; I will gently challenge you when it serves your growth, celebrate your progress, and walk alongside you as you learn to trust yourself to create a life that is authentic to not only who you are, but who you were always meant to be. My areas of expertise include working with trauma/abuse survivors, Latinos, immigrants, first-generation, neurodivergent, multicultural, and LGBTQIA+ individuals struggling with anxiety/panic disorders, low self-esteem, identity issues, childhood trauma, family dynamics, and relationship difficulties. With couples, I draw from the Gottman Method, aiming to strengthen intimacy, trust and communication.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is more than just a consult, it's the very start of a therapeutic bond. I take a gentle, bird's-eye view of your life to gain a comprehensive understanding of your internal and external world. It's all about getting to know you, what's been weighing on you and what you hope to gain from therapy. From there, we'll tailor your goals to your unique healing process. Some benefit from exploring the deeper roots of their experiences, while others find practical strategies helpful to navigate life's daily challenges. More often than not, therapy is a balance of both. I'll walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity and honesty every step of the way. My goal is simple: To help you come home to yourself.

Stephanie is an incredible therapist. From the very first session, she made me feel deeply seen, safe, and understood. Her warmth and presence alone are calming, and she has a way of helping things click on a deeper level, not just talking, but real healing. I leave sessions with her feeling lighter, and more connected to myself. Stephanie genuinely cares, and it shows in every session. I couldn’t recommend her enough.
