Psychotherapist

Many of my clients struggle with constant "what ifs," intrusive thoughts, or a nagging sense of worry they can’t shake. I often talk to people who struggle with checking things repeatedly to feel safe, or anxiety after a traumatic event has made daily life feel overwhelming. I also work with clients who are experiencing prenatal or postpartum anxiety and want to enjoy this time more fully. These feelings can be exhausting, defeating and isolating, but therapy with me means you don’t have to face anxiety or OCD alone. Support is available, and healing is possible. I specialize in helping clients overcome symptoms of anxiety, OCD, postpartum anxiety, and phobias (often triggered by traumatic experiences). I am trained in CBT and EMDR, and also use ACT and ERP therapy modalities to tailor treatment to your unique needs. The techniques I use are grounded in research because you deserve treatment that actually works. The most important part of our treatment process is our relationship. My priority is that you feel heard, respected and validated, because all too often we feel isolated, alone or unsupported. It's important to me that my clients have support and never have to shoulder the burden of anxiety or OCD alone.

Getting to know Stephanie Mckinney

What should a new client know about working with you?

My number one priority is ensuring that you feel supported and validated. In our first few sessions, we will discuss your symptoms, experiences, and (most importantly) your goals for treatment. I always work collaboratively with my patients to find their "growing edge." This means we experience enough discomfort to grow and improve, but not so much discomfort that we become overwhelmed or shut down. I always bring genuine compassion, understanding and acceptance to my sessions because there is no "one size fits all" solution in therapy. Together, we will work together to find the strategies and skills that specifically work for you. I do my best to be flexible with scheduling and work around your availability. If you need a different date/time than I have listed, you are always welcome to reach out to discuss alternate options.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After scheduling an appointment, you will receive a call to set up a brief 15-20 minute phone call to make sure that we are a good fit and that I am the right person to help you. Depending on your experiences and treatment goals, we will discuss what therapeutic interventions will be the most appropriate to help you. This will always be a collaboratively process.

In-network insurances

Stephanie Mckinney, LCSW is not in-network with any insurances

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $225 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $225 for 50 minutes
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don't accept insurance directly, your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. With Thrizer, you will only have to pay a copay for our sessions post-deductible, instead of paying my full fee and waiting for reimbursements. This typically allows clients to save on average 70% upfront on our sessions. I can help you verify if you have out-of-network benefits and how much your copay would be.
