Psychotherapist
OH
As someone with lived experience managing chronic pain, invisible illness, and burnout cycles, I know first hand how these issues can pose unique challenges to our mental health. They can cause stress on our self-confidence, autonomy, relationships, and more - but that doesn’t have to be the end of our story. I love supporting others who are navigating their mental and emotional health as they navigate invisible illness, chronic stress, fatigue, and burnout so we can develop sustainable self-care practices that prevent the cycle from repeating. Between my 14+ years of clinical experience supporting clients with mental health needs and my daily lived experience of balancing a career, motherhood, and chronic invisible illness, when I say “I understand,” I really mean it. With me as your therapist, you can trust that you're getting both qualified clinical support and human compassion and relatability.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When Your Body Changes the Rules, Therapy Can Help You Find Your Way. By learning to track your energetic, emotional, and physical capacity, you can set realistic targets for yourself at work, home, and in your own mindset. By exploring what is truly most important to you, you can begin to prioritize your energy for the things that matter most. By developing self-compassion, you can learn how to nurture yourself through pain and struggle. By meeting yourself right where you are today and everyday, you can develop a strong foundation of self-care to help you navigate all the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of living with chronic conditions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you live with chronic health issues, you already know the stress of trying to manage your health while managing all the other parts of your life. You feel guilty when you need to rest. You feel like you are letting others down when you break commitments. You try so hard to meet the needs of others at work, at home, and in your relationships, that you are often depleted before you have even considered your own needs. This leads to losing touch with the things you love, like hobbies, leisure activities, relationships, and genuine self-care. And if our health challenges are “invisible” to others? That can make us feel further isolated, wondering if others believe us about our needs, or feeling like no one understands what life is like for us. Sometimes it feels less complicated to just push through the pain and ignore our needs. Something has to change. In our work together, we will focus on self-care, boundaries, capacity tracking, self-advocacy with medical professionals, how to prioritize your top values, and strategies for balance. I provide practical solutions and support for common struggle points in your chronic illness journey, and I will lovingly challenge you to take back power in your life.
