Getting to know Stephanie Sweda

I also understand how to expedite the path to healing. I am culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and enjoy working with people from all walks of life. What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer an evidence-based model of care that is trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centered. My theoretical orientation is eclectic. Therapeutic interventions are customized to the individual and may include Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal Social Rhythm, Existential, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and others. Not all therapeutic methods work well for all people. As an eclectic therapist I draw from a variety of disciplines and may use a range of evidence-based methods to help a client. My goal is to customize the therapeutic process for each individual by using whatever form of treatment, or combination of treatments, is most effective for their particular issue. I respect and value the diversity of my clients. I do not discriminate based on age, race, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, immigration status, marital status, veteran status, HIV status, size, disability, socioeconomic position, profession, lifestyle, sexual orientation or behavior, or gender identity and expression. I am affirming of the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Sex Positive/Kink and consensually non-monogamous communities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

With your first session I like to begin to explore the symptoms and situations that brought you to therapy. Together we collaborate on a treatment plan that will help you to overcome the obstacles in your life, and help resolve your symptoms. Therapy will involve your participation and some hard work at times. As the sessions progress, most clients see continued, sustained improvement.
