“I have been seeing Stephanie for a little over a year now and it has made a huge difference in my life. After seeing a few other therapists I was very discouraged and never wanted to try therapy again. I was recommended to Stephanie and from the first session I knew this was the best fit for me. She has helped me learn more about myself, recognize where my weaknesses are and given me the tools to be a better version of myself. I am truly so thankful to have found a therapist that is patient and knowledgeable and genuinely cares about my well-being. ”

Getting to know Stephanie Townsend

The Cozy Couch Counseling cannot assist with medication prescriptions nor accept insurance. Trauma can leave us feeling broken, waiting for the next shoe to drop, and even out of control at times. You're likely tired of wondering when you'll start to feel better or when life is going to stop fighting against you. You may not even remember a time when you didn't feel like this, but you know you're ready for a change. You probably describe yourself as "highly self-aware" and can even pinpoint where problems come from, yet you're looking to make an impactful and long-lasting transformation. You find yourself excited about the idea of change and relief, enjoying life and relationships once again-or maybe for the first time. I can help you map out your roots, leading to deeper understanding and change. My clients come to me looking for someone who truly understands their anger, sadness, anxiety, grief, and so much more connected to trauma. Therapy with me is more than just talking about the bad things; I work with the mind and body for a full sense of healing. I specialize in trauma because I am a trauma survivor myself. I truly honor the steps you're taking for relief and change. I can help you create a safe space for your mind and body to live again, using the wisdom and protection your body and brain give you after trauma. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Georgia, which inform my compassionate and informed approach. The Cozy Couch Counseling does not provide medication management.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take the time to understand who you are as a person, your background, and your goals in life before saddling you with a bunch of different tools and exercises that may or may not be helpful to you. I work with you to create a routine that will serve you and your needs when you're not in my therapy office and allow you to talk about the hard-hitting stuff when you're with me.
