Psychotherapist
IL
Hi there, I'm Stephen! Therapy can feel intimidating.... I applaud you for starting your journey and being a self-advocate. I’m here to make sure that it is meaningful to you. I have extensive experience with individuals working through life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. A significant amount of my clinical work came as a family therapist at an inpatient behavioral health center, focused on stability, integration, and discharge planning. I take a client-centered, collaborative approach to therapy, together we develop YOUR focus and direction. I invite you to reach out whenever you feel ready to begin. I will provide a supportive environment where you are safe to be yourself. My approach I use an eclectic variety of approaches, but primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you identify and challenge unhelpful/faulty thought patterns. My approach gives you tools to feel more in control of your emotions and behaviors. Taking into account your unique needs, I will adapt my approach to include practices like mindfulness and exploration of "person-specific" coping strategies. Your progress toward your goals is my primary focus. Together, we’ll identify challenges and work on strategies to help you confidently move forward. My focus Perhaps you've been struggling with anxiety or feeling lost? I work with clients, from children to adults, who are struggling to control anxiety, life transitions, and those who look in the mirror and no longer recognize the person looking back. If you’re working through recent trauma, looking to increase your capacity to cope, or exploring your personal goals, I’ll work with you to create your personal plan for growth that is empowering and achievable. My communication style I believe that I have a unique ability to address difficult things in a non-threatening, yet realistic manner. I consider myself a realist with a sense of humor.
