Hi there, I'm Stephen! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with nearly 25 years of experience in the behavioral health field. I earned my undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and my Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I am board-approved to provide supervision to unlicensed LPCC and LGSW clinicians. I work with individuals ages 14 and up, couples, and families. I am trained in Brain Spotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Bowenian Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Over the past 25 years, I have gained extensive experience working with individuals impacted by many complex issues including parenting and attachment issues, personality disorders, and trauma across the lifespan including victims and perpetrators of sexual violence. I also have received specialized training in working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. My approach My focus or modality of treatment is a narrative and cognitive behavioral approach to most cases. My focus I work with individuals 14 and up of all genders. My communication style I'm a pretty relaxed guy and believe that the relationship is what makes the treatment successful. My journey to mental healthcare I started doing therapy as it seemed like the logical progression to my career as at the time I was a child protection worker. I found I could do more good as a provider than a case manager. My goals for you With a client-centered approach, collaboratively working to find goals and reach them. My first session with you With me, a client can expect to feel comfortable by the end of the first session. I believe that it is the client's time and they hold the information to their concerns. I help identify and address their concerns.
