Getting to know Steve Thaxton

I am an eclectic therapist with 27 years of clinical experience. I have been honored to spent most of my career supporting active duty personnel and their families. I have worked with all branches. My main clinical background is trauma focused. I have presented academic trainings on trauma nationally and internationally. I use different treatment modalities depending on a person's age and clinical needs. (For some people Art Therapy is more accessible than Talk Therapy, etc) I received my Master's in Mental Health Counseling at I.S.U. in 1998. I am also a Certified E.M.D.R Child Specialist. I tell all my clients to take their time and find a therapist that "clicks" with them. It's ok to "counselor shop." It's important to feel at ease with your therapist. In my personal life, you will find me all over the Pacific Northwest enjoying camping, hiking and the beach. I also love to travel and learn about different cultures. I love foreign languages and food. Antarctica is the last continent on my bucket list!
