Hi there, I'm Steven! My name is Steven Buck, and I am a licensed LCSW in Missouri. I earned my Bachelor's from Freed-Hardeman University and my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University, trained with an emphasis on systems and structure. I have over 30 years of experience in various clinical settings, including a psychiatric hospital, agencies, and private practice, working with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. My approach I focus on systems, assessing structure, communication, and boundaries-the dynamic in a person's life. I never attack a person but challenge clients to change how they interact. Healthy communication is essential for emotional health. My focus I work with all ages, from children with ADHD to seniors with depression. I am most comfortable treating anxiety and depressive disorders and have worked with many men struggling with anger issues. My communication style I validate a person's issues and feelings, conveying their worth and value. Whatever you struggle with, whether it makes sense or not, it is real to you. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been a helper. As the oldest of five boys, I cared for my younger brothers. Working in a psychiatric hospital with patients suffering severe mental illnesses showed me the positive effects of physician-supervised medications. My goals for you I believe in setting goals and ask clients to take small steps forward. If you are headed in the right direction, you are not headed the wrong way.
