Psychotherapist
MO
Hi there, I'm Steven! I'm Steven Forsyth, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Saint Louis, practicing via telehealth in Missouri. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, specializing in addictions, anxiety, and depression. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy and the Stages of Change therapy to help clients grow and change. My approach I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Stages of Change therapy, narrative, and Relapse Prevention therapies to improve clients' quality of life and help them work toward daily improvements. I believe reality won't change, and being upset by it is pointless. My focus I began addiction counseling in 1988 at an adolescent treatment facility in Pompano Beach, Florida, six years after my own recovery began. Since then, I have counseled in psychiatric hospitals, Saint Louis' homeless communities, and with autistic adults. My communication style I approach each session and client as unique experiences forming a significant part of the whole client. I emphasize that individual welfare reflects their own desire to become more effective individuals. My journey to mental healthcare My early work as an addiction therapist inspired me to continue in this field. Working with Saint Louis' homeless community showed me the need for effective addiction counseling professionals. These experiences led me to earn my Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Capella University. My personal recovery from alcohol and drug abuse remains a solid foundation for my counseling. My goals for you Goal setting is done by the client. While I may assist in forming goals, I believe clients understand their own needs better than I do.
