Hi there, I'm Susan! I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master’s in Community Counseling from Lauderdale County. I have been doing therapy with a variety of clients for over 25 years. I use a person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy approach, applying a variety of therapy styles to meet each client’s unique needs. I want clients to feel comfortable processing their thoughts in therapy. My approach I use different therapy styles that work well with different clients. I like to create a person-centered, non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable and accepted exactly where they are. I apply cognitive therapy techniques, focusing on setting both long-term and short-term goals. Together, we work on changing negative coping skills and developing positive ones to achieve meaningful, positive outcomes. My focus I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and cultures. As a military spouse, I have traveled extensively—from South Korea and Japan to Europe—which has enriched my understanding of diverse experiences. I especially enjoy working with adults and teenagers. My communication style I strive to create a person-centered environment that is caring, non-judgmental, and fully present with the client. My journey to mental healthcare Being a military spouse, I witnessed many challenges faced by spouses, service members, and children. I encourage people to learn from the past, take care of themselves, and move forward toward their goals. My goals for you I like to help clients set long-term goals and break them down into manageable short-term goals or habits to work on daily, weekly, or monthly, making progress steady and achievable. My first session with you Clients can expect a comfortable session where we both get to know each other. I want you to feel safe opening up about your concerns and reasons for coming to therapy. We will also discuss some general business aspects of the therapy process.
