Susan Lee-Belhocine, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I use mindfulness technique in conjunction with cognitive behavioral theory in my work as a therapist for New Pathways. I help clients identify their thoughts and feelings in any given situation and help clients to accept emotions (they will pass) and thoughts (they can change). I help clients to change their thoughts by making decisions in any given situation. Slowing down, focusing on the breath, accepting thoughts and feelings can help clients adjust to triggers and become more resilient. Also, I have worked in corporate America for decades before switching to social work, and I can help clients deal with work transitions as well as life phase transitions. As a trained social worker, I am accustomed to working with clients from a variety of backgrounds. I believe that everyone is an expert in their own life situation. My job is to help clients better understand their own stressors and ultimately make decisions that are most appropriate for them. I enjoy helping clients make positive changes in their lives. Slowing down, articulating our thoughts and feelings, recognizing patterns in our lives, and paying attention to our stressors can help make our lives more manageable. I work with individual adult clients. I have helped clients manage life and work transitions, understand how stressors affect their lives, and to decide what changes are necessary to bring more peace, joy, and hope into their lives.
