OK
My name is Susan McAuliff and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Oklahoma. I have a master's degree in professional counseling and a doctoral degree in Community Care & Counseling with a cognate in traumatology. I have a passion for working with adult individuals who have various challenges with anxiety, depression, self-identity (and more) that could be related to large or small traumas from past or present experiences. I use empirically-supported therapy methods, such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and Cognitive Processing Therapy along with good old fashion talk therapy to work with you toward your counseling and life goals. I always approach counseling from a person-centered view to build a trusting relationship with my client. After taking a thorough individual and family history, I work to design a unique treatment plan after understanding your personal counseling goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Where would you like to be in your life right now? Are there things from your past that are holding you back? You know that to build or even reach your life goals requires understanding where you have been, where you are now, and where you want to go. That starts with sharing your life narrative, values, beliefs, and faith with someone who listens. I work passionately to alleviate suffering brought on by depression, anxiety, panic disorders, acute stress disorder, post-traumatic stress and complex post-traumatic stress disorders for adults 18 years old through the end of life. Your therapist should be in line with your life quest for what is good, true, and beautiful. You should decide if you match with a practitioner who can be open to hearing you and building a plan that aligns with your beliefs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session covers introductions, confidentiality, identifying problems/challenges and exploring positive life outcomes that align with your counseling goals. I want to get to know you, let you get to know me, and answer any questions you might have. I approach counseling with a warm, holistic, and inquisitive attitude, but I can also be more direct if preferred. We will design a therapy plan together that can, and probably will, change and evolve as goals are met. I do telehealth sessions with late morning, afternoon, and evening hours available.
