Susan Morton, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
Hi... my name is Sue and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker practicing in MA and VT. I have 17 yrs experience as a therapist and my specialties include anxiety, navigating and recovering from toxic relationships, burnout recovery, eating disorders and navigating life transitions. My primary practice modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I also draw on elements of ACT, DBT, and solution-focused treatments based on my client's needs. Becoming a therapist was a mid-life career change for me. I had worked for 12 yrs for a newspaper publisher doing various types of customer service as well as 4 yrs as a corporate trainer. As the newspaper publishing industry started to collapse due to the internet, I decided I wanted to help people in a deeper level and decided to go back to school and finish my BA (in Psychology) and then went on to get my Master's in Social Work. I would describe my therapy style as being very proactive in session as I ask many questions and sometimes challenge your thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to support you in reaching your goals. In my personal life, I am an avid reader, love time outdoors, spending time with my granddaughter, and I love to travel. Fun fact about me, I became a Zumba instructor in 2010 at the age of 45 and taught for 10 yrs; the highlight of my career was teaching Zumba to tourists at a resort in Mexico.
