What should a new client know about working with you?
I love the movie character Forrest Gump because he says it best, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Life can bring unexpected events, challenges or stressors which can cause upheaval to your well-being. Sometimes you may not even know what’s causing your mood or feelings to change. That’s ok. My goal is to support you on your personal journey to building resilience. I am committed to providing you with compassion as well as clinical support to help you find your way forward to positive mental health.
Going to therapy can make you feel vulnerable, but my job is to help you feel safe, supported and heard. I strive to create a welcoming environment for ALL. Establishing trust and rapport is of utmost importance to me, and hopefully once earned, together we can navigate whatever challenges you face. I work from a Strength Based Perspective, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focus. That being said, I realize that this is your path, and I will walk along your side to help you reach your goals. I also understand that you may just need an impartial person to listen to your thoughts, concerns, and struggles. I’m happy to be that listener. Together we can develop a plan that works for you so you get what you need from therapy.
Becoming a social worker was an easy choice for me, as it values human relationships and upholds that every person deserves dignity and respect. To pursue this career, I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology at John Carroll University, and then obtained my Masters of Arts in Clinical Social Work at the University of Chicago. Over the years, I have worked as a School Social Worker with extensive experience in supporting Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, and Emotional/Behavioral disorders. I have helped parents and students navigate challenges, but also have been fortunate to share in the joys of their success.
