What should a new client know about working with you?

For my clients, I create a safe, supportive, accepting, and nurturing environment. I put my clients at ease and make them feel comfortable. My communication style is that of a listener. I encourage reflection and new self-insights. The session flies by very quickly as my clients come away feeling a sense of relief, empowerment, hope, validation and motivation to continue to work on their therapy goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is about establishing a foundation for the therapeutic relationship, building rapport, and understanding my client's needs. I introduce myself and create a welcoming environment to help my clients feel comfortable. Clients will have the opportunity to discuss what brought them into therapy, what they hope to achieve through therapy, and any specific issues they want to address. Background information is gathered. The confidentiality policy is explained as well as the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. I outline my approach to therapy and discuss how sessions will be structured. Clients are encouraged to ask questions they have about the process ensuring they feel comfortable and informed. The next steps are discussed such as the scheduling of future sessions.
