Psychotherapist
MD
Hello, I'm Susan, and I'm here to support your healing, growth, and transformation. With a foundation in psychodynamic orientation, my therapeutic approach is 'active eclectic', blending cognitive behavioral, Adlerian, and solution-focused interventions. I believe in facilitating change by helping you understand the underlying reasons for your conflicts and identifying behavior patterns that keep you stuck. Together, we'll develop new ways to tackle present-day challenges and move forward with confidence. I've been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland since 2001, after earning my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia. Before that, I spent years in the corporate world as a Director of Human Resources, which uniquely prepared me to 'coach' clients seeking personal growth and professional productivity. My practice focuses on supporting clients through trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, chronic pain, medical illness and physical injury, relationship upheavals, anger and stress management, emotional self-regulation, grief and loss, and difficult life transitions. I have extensive experience working with veterans and hold certifications in trauma treatment, anxiety, and telemental health. In our sessions, I frequently use Eye Movement Integration (EMI), hypnosis, and neurofeedback as adjuncts to therapy. For my online clients, I teach self-hypnosis, a powerful tool to manage chronic pain and extreme anxiety, helping you reclaim control over your life. Visual imagery and breathing exercises are other simple yet effective tools you'll learn to utilize for healthy self-management. Outside of therapy, I enjoy exploring new techniques and staying updated with the latest in mental health to provide the best care possible. I am passionate about helping you navigate life's challenges & achieve a sense of peace and fulfillment.
