Psychotherapist
MO
Hi there, I'm Susan! Hi! My name is Susan Wise, PhD, and I am a licensed psychotherapist with a PhD in Counseling from Saint Louis University. I am here to assist you in making the changes in your life that you have always wanted to make but have been afraid to do so. Change can be accomplished by building a therapeutic environment that focuses on empathy, acceptance, and mutual respect and trust. My approach My approach to therapy uses a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Art Therapy, Problem Solving, Coping strategies, communication skills, and more. My focus I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are motivated to move forward. My communication style My communication style is forward and promotes positive changes that need to take place in a comfortable, safe place with an experienced therapist who can remain neutral, supportive, and respectful. My journey to mental healthcare I have always loved a good challenge. Working with people and helping them change in a positive, forward manner has always been one of the biggest and most rewarding challenges of my life. My goals for you Goal setting is important in change. It requires lots of "baby steps" that are set on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. A mutually agreed-upon step is set, discussed, and hopefully accomplished by the following session. My first session with you The first question is: "What brought you to therapy? What do you want to accomplish, and what behaviors and thoughts do you want to change? Are you ready to meet the challenges?"
