Hello, I'm Susan, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD from Saint Louis University in Missouri. I am passionate about working with children, teens, adults, families, and couples across a wide range of ages and backgrounds. My extensive experience spans various issues, including marriage and family dynamics, couple issues, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, self-harm/suicidal ideation, substance and alcohol use, chronic illness, ADHD, geriatrics, developmental disabilities, and both sexual and emotional abuse. I also have a deep commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ clients, including trans clients, and I am dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone I work with. Throughout my career, I have gained valuable experience in group work, supervision and management, chemical dependency, residential settings, and school environments, alongside extensive outpatient clinic experience. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), strengths-based approaches, and addressing dual diagnoses of substance and mental health issues. Additionally, I have developed an art-based method that I integrate heavily into my therapy process, as I believe in the power of creativity to foster healing and self-expression. I view my clients as the true experts of their own lives, and I see myself as a guide and mentor on their journey. I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment where humor and art play a significant role in enlightening and enhancing positive behaviors.
