Getting to know Dr. Susana Martinez

I have 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and teenagers, helping them feel better about themselves, sort out difficult life dilemmas, improve their relationships, and give expression to their ambitions and goals in life.
I hold a PhD from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree from Universidad Iberoamericana. I have also trained in psychoanalysis at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis and the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity.
Whatever your personal situation may be, I am here to help you. By talking to someone who is trained to understand you and your personal struggles and ambitions, you can begin to feel better about yourself and your relationships, and open up the door to a more fulfilling, contented life.

She was good and helped me a lot. But my last session with her got extremely weird. She accused me entering her home after my session was done at her home office. She asked me if I entered her house, used and dirtied her private bathroom. I felt so humiliated and sad. I put so much trust in her and told her so many personal things. I was hurt and lost trust in her. I stopped going to her after that. That is no way to treat a patient. If she is so suspicious, she should put up cameras to check the whereabouts of her patients.

I feel like I didn't connect with her and she didn't give me a very warm and compassionate feeling. I don't think she's horrible but maybe not for everyone.

Dr. Martinez has a pleasant demeanor and office, but based on my experience with her, I do not feel she is equipped to treat anxiety as a full blown mental illness. I think her skills are better geared for everyday stress/family/relationship related therapy, but not towards mental illnesses that may require in depth analyses and aggressive treatment.

Susana is very professional and welcoming. She is an active listener and really gave me control over our conversation with a bit of guidance to prevent me from full-on rambling. I didn't once feel like my feelings and emotions were unjustified or "crazy" which is why I will be returning.

i have been working with Dr. Martinez for many many years and highly recommend her. Dr. Martinez is reliable, empathetic, professional and responsive. I always feel like she has my best intents in mind and is creative in finding solutions to problems. If you need a therapist, Dr. Martinez is an amazing option.

Dr. Susana Martinez is my lifeline on many a day. She is objective, respectful, knowledgeable, caring, attentive, intelligent , thoughtful, and incredibly helpful. I do not think I would be here without all of Susana's quality sessions with me. She has helped me tremendously.
