Hi there, I'm Suzanne! Glad you're investing in yourself - it's a healthy sign and a brave step. Personal growth and healing are not always easy, but the rewards are immeasurable. You'll have a safe, non-judgmental space and time to develop coping strategies and a mental health toolbox. Everyone deserves to feel hopeful about their future. I have almost 30 years' experience working with mood disorders, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, and trauma. I specialize in working with teenage girls, women, and active and retired military. I would be honored to support you on your journey. My approach I use Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT). I like CBT because it's evidence-based and very collaborative. CBT focuses on the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The core principle is that our thoughts significantly influence our feelings and actions. When we change unhelpful or distorted thought patterns, we can improve our emotional well-being and create healthier behaviors. Along with challenging your negative thought patterns and distortions, we'll also work on skill development. Homework will be given - you may be asked to try out new thought patterns or new behaviors. The goal is to equip you with tools and strategies to manage difficult situations, challenge negative thoughts, and develop more adaptive behaviors. I also like to use Solution Focused Therapy and Problem-Solving Therapy. I like these therapies because the client is empowered to identify & achieve their own solutions. The emphasis is on the client's strengths, resources, and capacity for change. I'm also a big believer in Positive Psychology. Positive Psychology emphasizes building strengths, resilience, and positive emotions to build a fulfilling and meaningful life. My focus Quite often I am working with women who are reacting to multiple responsibilities and/or stressors and feel overwhelmed. This may be current or something in the past that is holding them back or dragging
