Getting to know Suzanne Cuellar

I am Suz Cuellar, a Trans and Queer Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a Master's in Gender Studies, bringing 13 years of experience in community mental health. The approach I take to therapy is grounded in harm reduction, trauma-informed care, community care, and curiosity. My areas of focus include working with LGBTQ2IA+ and TGNC youth and emerging adults experiencing major life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and sexual identity exploration. My approach I believe all people deserve a safe, kind, and welcoming space to explore their mental health, and as a therapist, it is my role to nurture that environment. Much of my work is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness, somatic techniques, and art therapy when appropriate. My focus I am open to working with people of diverse identities but work best with those in the LGBTQIA2+ community. I typically support preteens, teens, and emerging adults, as my style aligns well with these age groups. I have extensive experience addressing ADHD, healing from intimate partner violence, depression, trauma, anxiety, gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, grief, gender exploration, and sexual identity exploration. I prioritize therapeutic relationships and strive to ensure my communication remains open and welcoming to vulnerability.
