Sydney Kay, MSW

Psychotherapist
MI
If you are feeling lost or alone or powerless, I want to create for you a 'safe harbor' where you can rest, recover, and grow beyond what you are facing. With compassion, curious exploration, and the understanding that you are always the expert in your own experience, I will help you strengthen your sense of power in your own life and future. My approach I value providing services that are rooted in trauma-informed care. I empower my clients to recognize their own strengths, improve their sense of self-efficacy, and feel their inherent worth as a person. To support this, I blend elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness, and more. My focus I work with adults (18+) who are navigating life transitions, relationship problems, feelings of powerlessness, and who struggle with feeling 'stuck' because of their past experiences. Together by digging into and finding understanding for the emotions you hold, we’ll create a plan to help you grow through the challenges you are facing. My communication style Most often, you can expect me to provide calm, reflective, and nonjudgmental input to support your understanding of your own experience, emotions, and needs. I do not give advice -- instead, I give psychoeducation and/or help you reflect on and identify the things you need to know in order for you to make the decision best for yourself.
