Talya van den Berg, LCSW

Talya van den Berg, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MD
I am a Social Worker with almost 20 years of experience working in California and Maryland. I've worked in many settings, including schools, hospitals, and grief care. I grew up overseas and have an awareness of culture and its effects on mental health. I have helped clients with grief, adjustment to life changes, immigration stressors and adjustment, parenting-especially new mothers-as well as anxiety and distorted thinking around anxiety. My counseling style is warm and supportive, and I believe in helping my clients find their strengths and their solutions. I use modalities from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, client-centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I earned my Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University. I look forward to being your ally and working with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I feel the most important thing that clients will take away from me will be a good therapeutic fit. Either we will connect and my style will work with you, or it won't. When it is a good fit I feel a lot of work and growth can occur. My first session generally consists of getting to know each other, and finding out some history directly related to what brings you to therapy.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
