I am a Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working in California and Maryland. I've worked in various clinical settings, primarily healthcare, grief care, and now therapy. I grew up overseas and have a curiosity about culture, the effects of culture on mental health, and family dynamics. I have helped clients with grief, adjustment to life changes, adjustment to parenting, and learning to manage ADHD and anxiety, as well as distorted thinking around anxiety. I use many different modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment therapy, client-centered therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. My approach My counseling style and personality are warm, supportive, and energetic. My approach includes helping my clients find their strengths and working on increased self-awareness and acceptance, which I believe translates to better overall coping. I may give homework, when appropriate, to continue to journal or explore what we have discussed during the session, or practice some of the coping tools we have explored. My focus I’ve worked with clients of all ages, and work well with individuals who are looking to explore how they have learned to cope with and engage in the world, and how these coping mechanisms may serve them well at times, but other times may also be causing more harm than good. I also work well with individuals who want to explore what changes they can make in their own lives, around their thinking, choices, and behavior, to learn more and feel better about themselves. My communication style I have a direct, fluid, and kind style. Instead of following a strict CBT structure, I believe in going with the session and the issues brought up, wherever they may take us. I also draw different modalities and concepts (as opposed to any one style) depending on what we are exploring or addressing in our session.
