“I've been seeing Tamara for a while now, and it's honestly made a real difference. What stands out most is how kind and genuinely present she is in every session, there's never a moment where I feel rushed or like I'm just another appointment on her schedule. She has a way of listening that makes it easy to be honest, even about the things that are hard to say out loud. Sessions feel thoughtful, not formulaic, and she seems to actually remember and care about what we've talked about before, which builds a real sense of trust over time. I've walked away from our conversations with a clearer head more times than I can count. If you're looking for someone who combines genuine warmth with real skill, I'd recommend Tamara without hesitation.”

Getting to know Tamara Schomberg

Hi, my name is Tamara. I'm a Mental Health Counselor, and I've had the privilege of doing this work for the past 8 years. One of the things I love most about being a therapist is getting to meet people where they are and reminding them that they don't have to figure everything out on their own. I especially enjoy working with families, couples, and teens. I believe every person has a story, and sometimes what we need most is simply a safe place to share that story, to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. What drew me to this work was my desire to be a listening ear for others. There are times when we know something isn't quite right, but we just can't seem to understand why or what to do next. I want to help bring some clarity to those moments, offer insight, and help you find a way forward. I also love research and learning. If there's something I don't know, I'll be honest with you, I'll tell you and then I'll go find the answer. Through my work and research, I've learned how deeply our past can shape our present, whether we realize it or not. Sometimes those experiences have a big impact, and sometimes they show up in small ways. Either way, I believe understanding where we've been can help us better understand where we are and where we want to go. Most of all, I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and cared for. This world can feel pretty cold sometimes, and I believe everyone deserves a safe space where they can take a breath, be themselves, and know they're not alone. I'm here to listen, support you, and walk alongside you, one step at a time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a space that feels warm, honest, and free of judgment. I believe every person has a story, and my role is to listen closely, meet you where you are, and help you feel truly heard. I take a collaborative approach; if something comes up that I don't have an immediate answer for, I'll be upfront about that and take the time to find one. I also believe our past experiences, big or small, shape how we show up in the present, so we may spend time exploring your history alongside what's happening for you right now. Above all, my goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling comfortable, supported, and a little less alone. Therapy with me is a partnership, and I'll walk alongside you at whatever pace feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session together is really about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you to therapy, a bit about your background, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. There's no pressure to have it all figured out, we'll build that understanding together over time. From there, sessions are collaborative and centered on you. Some sessions might focus on a specific challenge you're facing that week, while others might look back at past experiences to better understand patterns that show up in the present. I like to blend both, because I've found that understanding where we've come from often helps bring clarity to where we are now and where we want to go. I lean toward a conversational, talk-therapy approach rather than a rigid, scripted structure. That said, I'll also bring in tools, insight, or a bit of research if it feels useful for what you're working through, I'm always happy to look into something further between sessions if it means helping you more. Above all, my process is flexible and centered on making sure you feel heard, supported, and never judged, one session at a time.
