Getting to know Tamara Smith-Salmond

Hi! My name is Tamara Smith. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of Pennsylvania. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Social Work from Widener University. I have over 11 years of experience providing therapeutic support for adolescents and adults facing some of life’s most difficult challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, which has allowed me to gain experience with different populations. I have a passion for helping others heal and the ability to tailor my treatment approaches to suit each client’s needs. Life happens. Though we cannot control what happens, we can control how we adapt, our attitude, our perspective, and how we move forward. I create a safe space to allow you to process your pain and help lead you on the journey of finding your purpose. I understand that building a therapeutic relationship is the first step in successful treatment. Having someone who is empathetic, relatable, and compassionate are key components. My own experiences have led me to want to embark on the journey to healing for others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session will be an intake, a " get to know". I want to make sure I'm a good fit and I'm able to meet your clinical need. We will discuss why you wanted to start therapy, what you would like to get out of therapy and what goals you have.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my sessions thus far with Tamara and the biggest plus is that she loves God and incorporates Christ, Faith and biblical principles into our sessions. I also enjoy the assignments she gives for therapy homework.
I have only been seeing Tamara for about a month now and. I’m starting to feel better already. We talk regular and she gets me through. This death of my father has been hard on me. But she really getting through the process. It was hard. Tamara makes it a safe place to talk to her every and anything with no judgment. I love that about her. I would recommend her to whoever needs therapy.
Very empathetic and easy to talk to

The experience is very authentic and unique to you and your struggles. I like the way I'm challenged to self evaluate and problem solve.
Only had the first session thus far but was a really good experience. Setting up the appointment was easy. Was specifically looking for a black woman for a therapist and choosing Dr. Smith was a great decision. Went over my general history and gave me time to ask her questions to see if it was a good fit before ever getting into anything. Queer friendly.
