Tammy Bentley, LCMHC

Psychotherapist
NC
Hello, I'm Tammy. I am passionate about assisting women amid life's shifting seasons, be it the pressures of high school, college life, motherhood, a new job or a significant phase in life. My aim is to support you in times of change and uncertainty, fostering reconnection with oneself, building emotional resilience and unveiling purpose. My approach is anchored in empathy, collaboration, and empowerment, believing that each individual possesses the potential to thrive given the right resources, space, and support. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and narrative therapy - evidence-based practices which are adapted as per your individual needs and aspirations. Our sessions will be mutually-engaging ones, centering around self-compassion and pragmatic strategies to handle stress and anxiety. We'll unfold your challenges and engage with practical solutions that adhere to your objectives. You can anticipate a welcoming, unbiased space strategically designed to provide you proactive tools and coping mechanisms - a place for healing, introspection and confidently seizing new possibilities. Completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology (with a minor in Criminal Justice) from Central Michigan University, I further acquired a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. I finished my PhD in Counseling Studies from Capella University in 2013. I'm a professional counselor, with over 20 years of experience, and have had stints across settings like psychiatric care, school and high school counseling, and private practice. Creating a secure, supportive environment for open conversations and emotional processing without judgment is my goal. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed or apprehensive about the future, know that you have support. Together, we can initiate a dialogue and move towards the initial step of our shared journey.
