Getting to know Tammy Carson

Hello! My name is Ms. Tammy Carson, and I am a board-certified Psychotherapist. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts. In my younger years, I traveled and worked in many states in a corporate yet still helping role as a business analyst and also functioned as a project manager in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am licensed in the states of Massachusetts and Florida. I attended a Christian college for my undergraduate degree at Eastern Nazarene College, which is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. The social work department at the college taught social work through a Christian perspective and philosophies taken from the stories of the Bible. I completed my graduate degree at Simmons University School of Social Work in Boston, Massachusetts, earning a Master’s in Social Work and an Urban Leadership certificate. I have been licensed and practicing psychotherapy since 2013. My last job before doing psychotherapy full time was working in an emergency room alongside psychiatric residents, conducting crisis evaluations and advocating for all populations to ensure they received the proper level of care needed. I like to think in psychotherapy sessions that “I meet people where they are at in life” and take it from there. I am an empath and proud of it. I genuinely enjoy helping people understand, identify, and better manage their daily lives and relationships. I take pleasure in helping people take control and get the best out of life for themselves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I speak the truth to myself and my clients. I practice what I preach for healthy living and for healthy relationships. I use books that I have read for better insight for the client and for better interactions with me the therapist. I believe that our perception and reactions in life are key to how we see the world and the people around us. Clients can expect to gain better insight with their particular situation and hopefully have a clear plan to find their way out, cope and manage.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Love her style
Not every therapist will be your match and this is a perfect example of that. Was far from thrilled with the appointment and was turned off completely by the body language provided and by the tone used. Having any term synonymous to crazy being used at a patient during any an appointment is the epitome of unprofessional and disruptive. Would not recommend.

First time trying therapy in an attempt to fix my anxiety issues. I went in with an open mind and literally left 10 mins in because I realized I wasn’t going to get the help I needed. I explained my situation to Dr. Carson and she asked me to tell her specifically what we should work on. When I specified, Dr. Carson just kept repeating her age to me, which was really unnecessary as I’m not sure why her age would prevent her from helping me. After more talking she eventually stated that she thought I may have just been in an toxic relationship (this is not the case, I wanted help dealing with an anxious attachment style.) When I tried to explain that I also wanted to use therapy to try and help with my panic attacks/anxiety, Dr. Carson repeated what I stated above. She lacked tact, openness, and just overall made the experience uncomfortable; I was never really open to therapy and if I was in a bad place mentally and went to her; I would just be in an even worse place.
