Getting to know Tandrea Thysell

I was proudly born and raised in Northern California, the South Bay Area specifically. In 2012, I moved to Stockton and have essentially been here since. I earned a Bachelor's in Journalism from San Jose State in 2006, then a Master's in Counseling from the University of Phoenix in 2014. Always having believed in diversification, especially when it comes to lived experience, I have worked in several industries, including non-profit, media, clerical, CPS, education and therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a very honest, direct, transparent communication style--I don't pull any punches, My expectation of my clients as that they do the same and that they come to therapy ready to work. Whereas I do my best to create a safe space for you to be open and honest, there is np question about the actual work is that is done during sessions, but even more...out of them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I prefer to take the time to get to know each of my clients, their situation, relationship dynamics, family history, any medical concerns (past and/or present). It helps me to understand and see not just the problem, but the person. Especially because you are NOT the problem that you're currently experiencing. It isn't your identity; it's a situation that will eventually pass.
