Tangel McFadden, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CT
Hi there and welcome, I'm so glad you're here. My name is Tangel McFadden, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. I have experience working with children, teens, and young adults as a school social worker. Currently, my passion for working with people has led me to providing mental health services to adults within the therapeutic outpatient setting. My approach My role as your therapist is to first and foremost create a nonjudgmental, safe space for you to be and grow into your most authentic self. I enjoy working with clients to help them achieve their personal goals in life. During our time together, I will act as your guide, coach, and confidant, providing the psychoeducation needed for you to better understand how to process and manage stressors such as trauma, mood dysregulation, attention problems, relationship discord, and low self-esteem. I use a combination of theoretical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, internal family systems, and many mindfulness practices. My focus I feel most connected when working with adults ages 18-45. I have experience supporting women who are single mothers, domestic violence survivors, and/or have a history of complex trauma and relationship discord. I can best support clients who experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, parenting issues, religious trauma, and ADHD. My communication style When I am sitting with my clients, my hope is that they feel so comfortable with me it might feel like talking with a friend. I cherish the times I have laughed and cried with the person sitting across from me. I have a faith-based background as a Christian woman and am open to intertwining scripture and prayer into sessions with clients who request this. I am also comfortable not including any religious overtones or references for those who prefer a different communication style.
